Yeah, that’s what happened to me, too. The coolest thing my painkillers did was make me forget most of season 5 of Scrubs after I had watched it, so I got to watch it again.

Quick background: the Milgram experiment studied obedience by leading a research participant to believe he was shocking another participant, who was in fact a confederate conducting the experiment. In essence, the point was to see how much, with an authority’s prodding, a normal person will shock a stranger—and about 65% would shock the stranger to death.

Quick question: do we have a right to self-oblivion? Sure, knowing that you could be that person “just following orders” would be pretty disillusioning and not great for self-image, but is comfortable self-ignorance really something we can demand?
